A hospital here revealed a blue print showing how a "baby drop-off point" looked like after it was approved by the city to build a special hatch on the side of its building to re-ceive unwanted babies. A picture of the Virgin Mary and a stork carrying a baby are featured on the hatch.
The drop-off point, named "Akachan Posuto: Konotori no Yurikago" , features a hatch leading to a bed. On the wall on the right-hand-side is a calling button that allows visitors to talk with hospital staff. A picture of the Virgin Mary and stained glass cover a window at the drop-off point.
Officials at Jikei Hospital, the institution that is building the hatch, said they hoped anyone who came would look at the pic-ture of the Virgin Mary and give up the idea of leaving their baby there. Construction of the drop-off point is due to be com-pleted on April 28, and people will be able to use it from May.

ここのとある病院が、その建物の側面に望まれざる赤ちゃんを受け入れるための特別な窓を設置することをその市から認められて以降、「赤ちゃん捨て場」がどのようになるかの青写真(将来)を示した。その窓には聖母マリアと赤ちゃんを運ぶコウノトリの絵が描かれている。
その「赤ちゃんポスト・コウノトリのゆりかご」と名づけられた赤ちゃん捨て場はベッドにつながる窓である。右手側の壁には、訪問者が病院のスタッフと話すための呼び出しボタンがある。聖母マリアの絵とステンドグラスがその捨て場の窓を覆っている。
その赤ちゃん捨て場をつくった機関である慈恵病院の職員は、そこに来る誰もが聖母マリアの絵を見て、そこに赤ちゃんを捨てようという考えを捨ててくれることを望んでいる、と語った。その赤ちゃん捨て場の設置工事は４月28日に完了することになっている。そして、人々はそれを５月から使用することが出来る。
